The Best Celebrity Costumes

Who won Halloween 2022?

Peyton Oden | Fashion Editor

Halloween has been widely celebrated since the 1920s, and year by year the costumes get better and more creative. It is also a holiday that many celebrities use as an excuse to fulfill their wildest dreams, whether it be turning themselves into an animal or becoming their favorite superhero, some celebrity costumes are iconic enough to be remembered in pop culture forever. This year celebrities came out to upstage their last costumes.

Heidi Klum as a Worm

One thing Heidi Klum is known for is her extremely accurate Halloween costumes, like her edition of Fiona from the movie “Shrek,” and this year she continued the trend when she came to her annual Halloween party in New York City, which is the first since 2019 due to COVID-19, as a worm. She was accompanied by her husband, Tom Kaulitz, who was dressed as a fisherman, who held a fishing rod that was attached to her. This costume required a prosthetic and special effects team to add the scarily accurate touch. Makeup artist, Mike Marino has worked with Klum on multiple past costumes such as The Visible Woman and Jessica Rabbit.

Kardashian/Jenner Sisters as Mystique, Cucumber and Bride of Frankenstein

The Kardashians and Jenners have climbed their way up in the fashion world over the years and are now a few of the celebrities leading the fashion trends we see daily. With the looks Kim, Kendall and Kylie were wearing last month during New York and Paris Fashion Week, expectations of good costumes from the celebrity family were high and many say, they delivered. Kim Kardashian dressed as Mystique from the popular Marvel comics and movies, “X-Men”. She wore a blue latex body suit with yellow contacts, blue makeup and prosthetic scales. Kendall Jenner dressed up in a more mature Jessie from Pixar’s “Toy Storycostume. Kylie Jenner dressed as the Bride of Frankenstein and was able to get a custom Jean Paul Gaultier gown designed by Glenn Martens for the costume. She also posted multiple space and alien-themed photoshoots in addition to another modern take of the Bride of Frankenstein.

Diddy as The Joker

Music mogul, Diddy dressed up as the late Heath Ledger’s character from one of his most famous roles, The Joker. Diddy was almost completely unrecognizable in his costume. Footage from Kim Kardashian’s Instagram story from Oct. 30, shows Diddy walking up close to the camera doing the iconic Joker laugh and saying in his version of the Joker’s voice, “You smell like Kim Kardashian.”

Diddy went all out for the Halloween party he was attending, even having his friends dress in clown masks to be his henchmen.

Addison Rae as Lady Gaga

One of the crazy moments from the MTV VMAs was Lady Gaga’s 2009 famous performance of her song Paparazzi, which had iconic graphics and use of fake blood. TikTok personality and actress, Addison Rae, recreated the moment in a Halloween photoshoot, wearing a top and bottom similar to Gaga’s in her original performance. She sports the curly blonde and pink wig Gaga was wearing and incorporated fake blood and facial expressions in her photoshoot.

Hailey Bieber as a Versace Vampire

Hailey Bieber is known for her simple but timeless fashion taste, and many wondered what she would provide for Halloween, a holiday where most step outside of their comfort zone when it comes to a costume. Bieber took on two looks, which fell on the opposite side of the aesthetic spectrum. Look one was a black and gold “Versace Vampire” look with full Versace on her body, including jewelry, fangs and a red lip with purple eyeshadow. Her husband, Justin Bieber, accompanied her in a cozier costume, in a blue cookie monster onesie and a beanie from his own brand Drew House. The second look fell on the lighter side, it was a homage to a pink rose floral look from Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring-Summer collection from 1999, which was worn by Laetitia Casta on the runway.

Lizzo as Marge Simpson and Miss Piggy

Painting yourself yellow for a Halloween costume sounds great at first but it’s a task not many would commit to. Popstar, Lizzo, showed that it is worth it if you do. Lizzo turned herself into Marge Simpson from “The Simpsons” with yellow body paint around her body as well as the sequined green dress that is matched with the iconic a blue curly-haired wig. She was also inspired by the famous Muppet, Miss Piggy. Lizzo had a photoshoot in front of a fireplace on a brown fur couch wearing a white fur blanket. Miss Piggy’s nose, ears and blonde hair were a part of Lizzo’s costume. Her Instagram caption reads “A tribute to my forever icon, MISS PIGGY. The epitome of grace, style, confidence and a warrior for love, @realmisspiggy I love you.”
