The Beauty of Sunscreen

Finally, it’s summertime, meaning some people are striving to get the perfect tan. However, as much as you might want to lay out and bake all day in the sun, burning our healthy skin to a crisp is not beneficial in the long run.

In the summer, there are longer periods of sunlight, causing us to spend more time out in the sun. Although lots of sun creates summer memories, the sun can be harmful to unprotected skin in several different ways such as early-aging and skin-cancer promotion.

Wearing sunscreen or any products that contain Sun Protection Factor (SPF) has been the number one rule in skincare for years.

According to the Skin Care Foundation, the main culprit of getting wrinkles or dark spots is damage to the skin caused by overexposure from the sun. Unlike sunblock that completely blocks out sun rays, sunscreen filters UV rays so you are still capable of tanning without having to worry about the damage. However, nobody wants to wear a sunscreen that might be too greasy and clog your pores or leave a slight white cast on the skin.

Although sunscreen seems to be a hassle to put on, there are many different forms of SPF that are easy to apply and look great. Some of the quickest and easiest ways to protect your skin from early aging and wrinkles is a daily moisturizer that contains SPF.

Brands such as CeraVe, Aveeno and Cetaphil all offer facial moisturizing products with a broad-spectrum SPF. A broad-spectrum SPF protects the skin from both UVB and UVA radiation. UVB radiation is associated with the skin burning while UVA radiation is associated with skin-aging. With essential ceramides such as hyaluronic acid and niacinamides, these SPF moisturizers don’t clog your pores but help clear them. Choosing a moisturizer with a good SPF not only means moisturizing your skin, it also hydrates your skin so while you are out in the sun, it does not get dry.

Recently, gurus and influencers have been raving over their tinted moisturizer and how much they love them.

Influencer Marielle Proulx, posted a video on TikTok explaining her favorite tinted SPF moisturizer and why it’s better than the rest. The product she uses in the video is “Tizo Tinted Mineral Sunscreen.” She explained that this product acts as a primer and a tinted sunscreen.

“It blurs your pores and blends seamlessly,” she says.

Not only do tinted SPF products cover redness and even out complexions, the iron oxides found in these products block both UV and blue light, so your face is protected indoors and outdoors. Some may even argue that tinted sunscreen has more benefits than untinted sunscreen.

Protecting our skin is absolutely essential. Tans come and go but skin damage stays forever. Sunscreen products are evolving every day to meet customer needs, The right sunscreen is out there, we just have to look.
