Behind-the-scenes of Alice
The Media Planning Board elected Emma Kate Standard to serve as Alice Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Standard plans to focus on effective communication internally and externally along with continuing to give all college women a platform for their opinions moving forward.
“Alice is so much more than just a magazine to place on your coffee table, it’s something that allows all forms of creativity to thrive in their own way,” says Standard. “I look forward to working with my team to spread that message across campus.”
Standard is a current junior majoring in advertising and minoring in photography. She has served on the Alice staff since 2021. As a contributor, Standard has been published over ten times across seven of Alice’s issues. During her time as a contributor, Standard photographed women in business, celebrity makeup brands and a number of photo stories.
During the 2021-2022 academic year, Standard served as Alice’s Assistant Photography Editor. She helped organized over 10 contributors in creating the photography content for Volume 7.
In fall 2022, Standard served as the Assistant Photography Editor, helping to coordinate photos for Volume 8, Issue 1. Currently, Standard serves as the Photography Editor for spring 2023. In this position, she oversees the photography department and coordinates all photography for Volume 8, Issue 2.
“Emma Kate is an amazing visionary, her ideas come to life through her photography,” said Jennafer Bowman, current Editor-in-Chief of Alice, “I’m excited to see what her and her team create for Volume 9.”
Standard plans to start interviewing for next year’s positions in April and will take over as Editor-in-Chief upon Bowman’s graduation in May. The first Alice issue of her tenure is set to release in the fall of 2023.
