One of life’s greatest joys is browsing Instagram instead of doing any of the thousands of things on your to-do list. It’s just so easy to get lost in the Instagram explore page. It would be nice to find a guide on how to avoid getting sucked in for hours, but that’s not what I’m here for. Instead, enjoy this list of awesome accounts to follow and add to the unproductivity. Happy scrolling!

Some of us still like to use the internet for its original, God-given purpose: Watching cat videos. BUB is a cat with a long list of genetic anomalies. However, she’s been able to rise above her disabilities and become a published author, a talk show host, the star of an award-winning documentary, and the creator of the first national fund for special needs pets — and she’s really freaking adorable.
@chriscaseyart
Chris Casey is a potter. He makes pots. I can’t think of anything that sounds more uninteresting, but his videos of his process are mesmerizing and relaxing. Casey films as he throws, paints, and carves beautiful pieces that “explore the liminal zone between the concrete and the abstract,” as he explains on his site, where his pieces are available for purchase.
@tweezist
This account is definitely not for the faint of heart. If you were a fan of all the pimple popping and ear wax removal videos that were so popular a while ago, then first of all, ew, but second of all, this girl is right up your alley. Each video features the account owner digging out an ingrown hair from somewhere on her own body. Yes, it’s disgusting, but also weirdly satisfying. You’ve been warned.
@paint_mixings
Watching paint dry may be one of the most legendarily boring activities known to man, but somehow it’s actually pretty fun to watch it get mixed. These videos swept the internet a few years ago and are every bit as mesmerizing now as they were then.
@tamanegi.roo.riku
This adorable account features a woman’s one-year-old grandchild and her best friend, a giant poodle named Riku. The pair plays in matching outfits and are often joined by two other pups, making for possibly the cutest instagram of all time.
@thegentlyused
This iconic band is comprised of two dudes in sunglasses singing silly songs from even sillier albums. The way they pack such funny content into videos that are just one minute long is unexplainable and honestly, I’m jealous. Their stuff is comically concise and clever, and it always leaves you wanting more.
@AcousticTrench
Those of you who miss Vine (may it rest in peace) as much as I do can find a little comfort in this IG. It’s run by the former owner of the Vine account by the same name, who plays covers and original songs on a number of different instruments while his adorable dog Maple listens, and sometimes even accompanies him. Bonus: Maple has her own IG account, maple.the.pup!
@satinscarves
This account is overflowing with tips and tricks for skincare, hair, makeup, and the like. It’s full of recommendations for new products you’ve been looking for or solutions to cosmetic problems you just don’t know how to fix. Just be sure not to take every tip at face value. Everyone’s skin and hair are different, so certain tips that are helpful to others may do you more harm than good.
@poorlydrawnlines
You’ve definitely seen these funny little comics scattered across the internet before, but here’s your chance to get the content directly from the source. Cartoonist Reza Farazmand began the series in 2013 as a freshman at the University of California, San Diego and has been posting comic strips ever since.
@tuckerandanniewhitegoldens
The only thing better than a golden retriever is many, many golden retrievers. This account follows proud parents Tucker and Annie and their adorable puppies as they get into general dog shenanigans. Since puppy overload is arguably the best stress reliever, this account is just what the doctor ordered to get you through the first few days of the semester.
