Ultimate Halloween Movie Marathon List

By Sara Beth Bolin

From the candy and costumes to the pumpkin patches and haunted houses, everything about Halloween is wonderful. A movie marathon is the best way to jump into the spooky spirit before heading out for the evening. Choose from comedies, dramas, rom-coms, and horror films, and you’ll have the perfect background for dressing up, carving a pumpkin, or just enjoying some candy corn and a pumpkin-scented candle.

Halloweentown

This nostalgic-filled Disney Channel classic will have you remembering your favorite childhood Halloween memories over and over again. Follow three Halloween-deprived siblings as they explore their grandmother’s hometown after they discover she’s a witch. And be sure to stock up on candy—there are three sequels. Three.

Hocus Pocus

Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker star as sisters who return to Salem after being hung for their spell work. In order to keep their town from turning back into the horror show that was the Salem Witch Trials, three kids try to stop the witches from taking a child’s life and gaining mortality forever. This wonderful comedy is bound to put a spell on you!

Beetlejuice

A couple is trapped in their house for 150 years after being killed in a car accident and becoming ghosts. To make matters worse, the most annoying family in the world becomes their roommates. In order to escape the torment that lies ahead for them, the couple hires an exorcist; but of course, the plan falls apart.

 Twitches

Okay, this might be the corniest movie on this list, but you have to admit, it was your favorite Halloween movie when you were a tween. Two sisters separated at birth meet again and discover that they are witches from another universe. When they decide to go visit their birth mother, they find out that their home world is in danger, and they must save it before it’s too late.

Carrie

Mean girls got you down? Carrie ought to help you out! After being tormented at her high school and by her own mother, Carrie decides to get revenge with the help of her telepathic powers. Check out Sissy Spacek in the 1976 original (based on Stephen King’s novel) or Chloe-Grace Mortez, who stars in the 2013 remake that will also keep you on the edge of your seat.

 Warm Bodies

This is the perfect Halloween date night movie! After saving the life of a girl instead of eating her brains, a relationship develops between the two. Who knows, it may just be enough to bring the world back to life! And with a cast including Nicholas Hoult and Dave Franco, you really can’t go wrong.

Halloween

This one’s for all you horror-movie lovers out there. An inmate at a psych ward (who was institutionalized after killing his siblings) escapes and returns to his hometown with the intention to kill. You might want to leave the lights on for this one!
