Playlist: Fight the February Blues

Spotify: AliceMagazine

Earlier this week, Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring, and with the warmer weather we’ve been having, he might actually be right. But even with warmer weather, spring break is still five weeks away. To keep up the motivation and fight the February blues, roll down your windows, blast this fun playlist, and enjoy the weather.

“Peaches” | In The Valley Below

This song will be stuck in your head for hours.

It’s a quirky and fun mix between male and female voices that gives the song a cool perspective into a relationship.

“Towers ” | Bon Iver

Bon Iver is one of my favorite artists to listen to while I study. His songs are soothing and his vocals are toned down just enough not to interrupt your thought process while doing homework.

“Towers” feels nostalgic, but the lighthearted music reminds me of spring.

“4EVER!” | LANY

“4EVER!” sounds straight out of an 80s movie.

Just picture the ending of John Hughes movie, and this song could easily be playing in the background.

“Family And Genus” | Shakey Graves

Shakey Graves is the stage name of Alejandro Rose-Garcia, who played “The Swede” on the TV show, Friday Night Lights (crazy, right?).

This Austin, Texas-based singer’s melancholy sound is effortlessly cool.

“Celeste” | Ezra Vine

Ezra Vine paints a beautiful setting surrounded by harmonious melodies that is both sweet and poetic.

It’s hard to feel dreary while listening to this song.

“OctaHate” | Ryn Weaver

This one is addicting.

Despite being about a downhill relationship, this song seems like nothing but fun. The vocals are superb, and the quirky instrumental background adds to the essence of the song.

“Reflections” | MisterWives

This song was super popular last year, but it’s still one of my go-to jams.

(If you don’t scream at the top of your lungs at the chorus, you are doing it wrong.)

“Fall At Your Feet” | Saint Raymond

After hearing this at the beginning of one of my favorite movies, “This Is Where I Leave You,” I was hooked.

It’s charming and breezy and one of my favorite feel-good songs.

“Coffee” | Sylvan Esso

“Coffee” is one of those tracks that entrances you from start to finish.

It manages to encompass the complexity of a relationship while still feeling light-hearted.

“Dime Store Cowgirl” | Kacey Musgraves

This is one of my absolute favorite country songs.

Musgraves sings about her journey performing for fans all over the country while still proving she’s just a small-town girl.

The toned-down sound is sweet and simple, and perfect to listen to as the warmer weather rolls in.
